2 months old!

We are 2 months old today!  What a big day we had too, a well baby check and 2 month vaccines!  The babies were troopers, I think it was more traumatic for this mommy!  A couple big cries and it was all over and the babies were fine too!

We've had a few things happen in the past few weeks, where should we start?  Vivian is still a "tricky" feeder.  I felt like it was becoming a little harder to feed her and she was resisting the bottle more so I called the doctor late last week.  Long story short...we saw a developmental pediatric doctor on Tuesday of this week and had a feeding study under X-ray to make sure she was eating safely.  She does, in fact, aspirate thin formula so we are thickening it to help it not go into her lungs.   The doctor also sent us home with an NG tube that I may need to put down if she has difficultly feeding.  At this point we have not had to put the tube down but we have it as back up so we can keep her growing and not push her with the bottle.  The feeding study did show she does have some times where she penetrates the thick formula (meaning it comes close to the lungs) which puts her at high risk for aspiration as she tires and becomes less coordinated towards the end of eating each feeding.  It sounds kind of complicated but truly it's not.  We are just taking it one day at a time, one feeding a time.  All and all, Vivian is a very happy baby.

Oliver is just moving right along with his bottle feedings.  He takes upwards of 4 to 5 ounces with each feeding!

Vivian and Oliver have both started smiling at us and following us with their eyes.  They both hold their head up when they are on their tummy and are getting much stronger each day!  They still sleep a lot but are having more awake time too.  We think (and hope) they are starting to differentiate between night and day.  They will each sometimes go up to 4 hours in the night between feedings, last night Vivian slept a 5 hour block!   Oliver is a big boy and likes to eat so 4 hours is pushing him sometimes :)  Today Vivian weighed 8 lbs. 12.5 oz. and Oliver weighed 12 lbs. 3.5 oz.

Oliver is 2 month old today!  Doesn't he look too cute in his shorts!

Still growing!

Her are a few more pictures of our day to day actives.  We are headed back to the doctor for there 2 month appointment and vaccines this week so I'll update with new weights then!  But for now enjoy a few pictures....

Oliver uses a MAM pacifier and we only have a few of those, a couple happen to be pink :)

Looking ridiculous in their sleepers and hats.

Vivian in her bloomers that are a wee bit too big still...but she does have a little double chin!

Oliver's mad face, getting ready to unleash his big boy cries...I think it's cute!

Taking a little nap.

Falling asleep on the job (tummy time).

The bandit strikes again, this pacifier has a little stuff animal attached to it...better known as a WubbaNub.

One month pictures taken by Shanae, they are already hoosier fans!

Josephine tried to steal the show!

6 weeks and 4 days old!

Hello blog followers!  We are growing, growing, growing!  We had another weight check today (I managed to take both babies to the doctor and McDonald's drive through for a Diet Coke...all.by.myself!) and Oliver weighed in at 10 pounds 4 ounces and Vivian weighed in at 7 pound 12 ounces!  Oliver is up a pound in 2 weeks and Vivian is up a pound and 5 ounces in 2 weeks!  We've changed a few things in the past week or so.  Vivian now gets her milk with oatmeal in it to thicken it so she can drink it more safely and help with reflux.  Today the doctor started her on Prilosec to help with her reflux so we are hopeful this well help her rest better.  Both babies are good sleepers, still waking about every 3 hours to eat, but Vivian cries out occasionally and arches her back when she refluxes.  We will be starting a little stricter schedule when they reach 8 weeks to promote sleeping through the night (we are just hopeful for 6 straight hours or so initially, eventually stretching to even 12 hours!)  With me going back to work, the last week of September, Matt will be on his own 2 nights a week plus working so anything we can do to get them sleeping longer stretches at night will be beneficial!  We go back to the doctor in 2 weeks to get there 2 month vaccines...where does the time go?!?!?

Oliver frequently finds his thumb..very cute.

Vivian has a little chat with Grandpa Hursh.

Josephine came over to play wearing her new shoes!  Hopefully, she'll pass those on to Vivian when she's big enough to wear them.

My twin cousins, Bailey and Ashely, with the babies.

Play time!

Still a noticeable size difference.  Today Oliver weighed 10 lbs. 4 oz. and Vivian weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz.

I just can't stop...

taking pictures of my babies!  Maybe because they are just so stinking cute!  So here are a few of our latest antics.

Vivian finds her thumb!

The babies are 5 weeks old! (His shirt says it all!)

Vivian was too sleepy for a photo shoot so this is the best we could do!  Oliver is still quite a bit bigger then his sister.  He takes upwards of 4 ounces at a feeding and she takes 2 -3 ounces at a feeding...she's trying to catch up!

We are trying to slowly move the babies into their cribs and since they spend about 90% of their sleeping time in their bouncy seats we thought we'd start by putting them in their seats in their cribs for a "nap".
I know, I know, I'm pretty sure I'm still crazy :)

The pacifier bandit is back at it!  Caught her in the act!

"Those are fun toys."

"So much to look at."

Such fun....

Oh wait...they're really just watching Ellen!
