One month old!

The babies are one month old already!  Time is just flying by and we are trying to enjoy each and every second.  We went to the doctor today for a weight check.  Oliver weighed in at 9 lbs. 4 oz. and Vivian weighed in at 6 lbs. 7 oz.  We are going to decrease Oliver calories because he is such a big boy!  Oliver also has a little clogged tear duct in his right eye so we got some antibiotic ointment we will be putting on his eye for the next 5 days and hopefully it will clear it up!  We've been hanging out during the day while Daddy works, Aunt Amy comes over to play with cousin Josephine because she still is enjoying her summer vacation!  We are getting our routine down and trying to stretch out our time in between feedings a little bit (especially at night :)).  Thank you all again for the phone calls, text messages, emails, and love and prayers.

Josephine is the pacifier bandit...she'll try out any pacifier she can get her hands on....this one is Oliver's.

Shanae came over to take one month photos of the babies...they were sleeping in the basket waiting.

Oliver likes to go for walks.

Vivian enjoys walks too!

More pictures

We are getting in the groove here at the Hursh home.  We've enjoyed time outside, been on a walk, played with our cousin Josephine and taken many "naps".  Here are some more pictures of our daily activities.

We're HOME!

...and by "we" I mean all 4 of us! We knew on Tuesday it was a possibility but we didn't want to get our hopes up. However, Wednesday afternoon 7/14/2010 (our 3rd wedding anniversary!) all 4 of us came home from the hospital as a family! The first night...sleep was minimal for Matt and I but the babies slept great! Last night there was more sleep had by all. It takes a little bit to get used to the babies grunts, squeaks, stretches, and squeals while sleeping (because of course the babies are sleeping in our room!). Getting up every 3 hours has been a bit of an adjustment but a welcome adjustment to have our babies home with us. This weekend we'll have the dogs come home from my parents house and then our family will be complete again. The babies are still immature and are still kind of tricky feeders but having Matt and I here to feed them consistently is very helpful to Oliver and Vivian. Matt has been off work since Wednesday and won't be going back until Monday after our pediatrician appointment. When we left Wednesday Oliver weighed 7 pounds even and Vivian weighed 4 pounds 12 ounces. Here are a few pictures.....

Day 16

Vivian and Oliver are now 16 days old.  Oliver weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces and Vivian weighs 4 pounds 9 ounces.  They are each just about a pound bigger then their birth weight.  They are still learning how to eat from a bottle and doing better and better every day.

More Pictures

We have now been in the Special Care Nursery for 9 days. We are still feeding and growing! Oliver now weighs 5 pounds 15.6 ounces and Vivian weighs 4 pounds 0.4 ounces. Today Oliver got his first tubby bath and Vivian moved from her isolette to an open crib. They are still working on bottle feeding, which is pretty much the only thing holding us up from going home. I would say Oliver takes about 1/2 of his feedings by bottle and then gets the rest through his tube in his nose. He just gets too sleepy to take the full volume of feeding. He takes 50 milliliters with each feeding. Vivian takes about 1/3 of her feeding by bottle, then gets the remainder through her tube in her nose. She too is just so little she gets tuckered out after a very short time. She is now taking 34 milliliters with each feeding. She still has the occasional heart dip lasting less then 10-15 seconds (where her heart rate goes below 80 beats per minute but corrects this herself almost every time). Last night Matt and I went home for the first time in a week to sleep in our own bed. It was beyond hard to leave them but I think it was good for us. Now that the nurses know the "ins and outs" of Oliver and Vivian, we felt comfortable leaving them even though we were gone less then 10 hours :)

We appreciate everyone's love and support and please know that we have received everyone's emails, texts and phone calls and have just been so busy it's hard to reply. Between trying to feed two babies, catch a quick nap, and eat...we've got our hands full, but we love every minute of it!
