Supersitions

Something many of my blog stalkers (that's you reading this blog right now;)) may not really know about me is I'm kinda superstitious.  You know things like....I don't leave the volume on the radio or the TV on 13, because 13 is an unlucky number.  To get to the point, I'm pretty superstitious when it comes to this pregnancy.  I delivered Vivian and Oliver at 33+6.  Today I am 33+6 weeks pregnant.

We had a busy weekend.  Friday night our 3rd crib and dresser came.  Saturday we bought a brand new 2012 Toyota mini van.  That's right mini van.  Never say never folks because you might have to eat your words like I did this weekend.  Truth be told in the past year or so I said I was more then open to owning a mini van but if you would have asked me 10 years ago...I would have said never.  But the times they are a changin' and this just seems to be the best fit for our soon to be family of FIVE! And honestly, it's quite nice.  Then I worked Saturday night and for those 24 hours I was awake I was contracting on and off.  As many as 4 or 5 times in an hour, which has not been the norm for this pregnancy at all. Long story short, I decided to call in sick Sunday night because the fear of delivering early seemed all too real.  Monday night was a full moon (my water broke at 3AM the night of a full moon with Vivian and Oliver) and today is Tuesday and I am more then excited to get this day over with and still be pregnant at 34 weeks.  But my superstitions continue.  I always take a picture wearing the same shirt, I always throw away the "date" sign as soon as the picture has been taken in order to look forward to the next day and Matt always takes the picture.  But...today my mom had to take the picture because Matt is out of town.  So I'm breaking tradition but I'm also hoping to break the tradition of delivering at 33+6.  My contractions have slowed back down to 1 or 2 here or there.  So I can't complain.  The other thing that has worn me down are the comments....the endless comments.  Don't get me wrong there are plenty of nice comments coming my way too but it's the negative ones that have been bringing me down lately.  The "You're not going to make it another 6 weeks" or "Whoa, you're big, you're all belly but that a lot of belly" or "You've definitely dropped" can just really wear a girl down when I hear it 8 to 10 times a day.  I work in a hospital, in a NICU, so being pregnant and having babies is in the forefront of everyone's mind.  I hear it all the time, from the cafeteria staff at work, random people in the grocery, the UPS store...you name it.   Making it past today's milestone will give me a breath of fresh air and hopefully relief from some of the superstitions I am putting on myself.

Broke another superstition for this picture...no make-up :).  This picture is the most pregnant picture I've even taken.  Besides a picture of me in the hospital bed laying down on my way to deliver V & O, I never had a picture of me pregnant at 33 weeks.

Belly picture update

Here's the past month of pictures of my ever growing baby!  I'm nearing 32 weeks!  Just in the past week I've started to have a little swelling in my ankles.  The weather has been warm and I think it's  just to be expected.  My blood pressure is still good (98/52) so the doctor was not concerned.  Sure beats the swelling I had with Vivian and Oliver that started at 15 weeks! Other then the little swelling I have everything else is moving along well.  We've ordered our third crib and dresser and it should be here by the end of June.  With that we've started cleaning out the baby's room, the former guest bedroom/office.  We are still in limbo regarding this little lady's name, but we're working on it.  That and getting our new car are on the top of the list of things to do!
